Answers to some common faith questions:

Q: How do I know if I'm a Christian?

A: You can be confident that you are a Christian if you have proclaimed your trust in Jesus as the one who paid the ultimate price for your sin, you believe that he has forgiven you, and you have committed your life to following his will (Romans 10:9; 1 John 1:9).

Q: What does it mean to repent?

A: The word 'repent' literally means to stop, turn around, and go in the opposite direction. When the Bible talks about repenting from sin, it is referring to more than simply stopping a bad behavior. It involves a change of heart and life (Matthew 3:2; Luke 13:3).

Q: What is sin?

A: The word 'sin' literally means to 'miss the mark' as in an archer who misses a target. In the biblical context, the 'mark' or target is God's holiness. We were born into sin as human beings, and only the blood of Jesus can wash it away (Romans 3:23-25).

Q: What is faith?

A: Faith is the absolute confidence in God's good character and the unshakeable belief that his Word is true regardless of our circumstances or our feelings. Faith is a personal commitment to place your trust in God and to follow his plan for your life (Hebrews 11:1).

Q: What is prayer?

A: Prayer is simply talking with God. You don't have to be in a church or use special language to talk with God. He is always with you everywhere you go, so you can talk to him just as you would speak with a trusted friend. Ask questions and expect answers.

Getting Started:

First know that this is the biggest decision of your life. Nothing else you do in life will compare to this step. The second thing to always remember is that God is always with you – no matter what.

Baptism

Baptism is a public demonstration of faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is an important event in the life of the new believer. You can either find a church where you can be baptized or a Christian friend who baptize you as well (Matthew 3:13-17).

Study the Word

Take time and read the Bible daily. Begin with 5 minutes--maybe a couple of chapters. The Gospel of John is a great place to begin.

Have Faith

Know that God's promises are true and that He is going to be there for you the rest of your journey. Trust Him despite your circumstances and He will guide you.

Pray

Prayer is a simple conversation with God. It doesn't require memorized words or special language. Be honest, open your heart to God and talk with Him and let Him speak to your heart as well. Your life will be transformed by the power of prayer.

Fellowship

Spend time with people who will encourage your walk of faith, pray for and with you. Find a Bible-teaching congregation and join a study group

Give to God

Take time to give back to God all the blessings He has first given you. This can be giving of your time, your resources and you talents.
